Urinary tract infection aka bladder infection. I got this a week ago and have been taking AZO from over the counter at Wal-Mart. I also have been upping my usual dosage of cranberry juice on top of cranberry tablets. It has been years since I got one of these and I wonder if there's an better herb that can tackle this immediately. I don't believe in going to doctors for something I can doctor myself.

First of all, drink lots and lots of water. Second, if you are drinking cranberry juice with sugar in it, you are wasting your time. You must drink the straight stuff. If it's too strong, add a little water and maybe a tsp of honey at most, but try to drink it straight. There is also a very good tea called Cran-Aid. It is made by a company called Traditional Medicinals and it contains many herbs that are good for UTI. My final suggestion is that you try a homeopathic remedy called Cantharis. It is also supposed to be very helpful with UTI's. As far as your diet goes, try to eliminate sugar and alcohol. Also coffee. Eat plenty of whole grains and veggies and stay away from dairy. Hope this helps.

I know you don't want to hear this - but you may have a particularly virulent bacterium that is causing your symptoms. You may need to see a doc for a urine C&S in order to get this under control, because it sounds like you are doing all the right things to treat your UTI without antibiotics.
Check out some of the herbal remedy websites and see if any of their products appeal to you. Sorry I can't give a recommendation about which ones work best - tons of cranberry juice and water usually works for me.
Don't let this go too long - you don't want to end up with sepsis!
Good luck!

Drink plenty of water and cranberry juice. Stay away from caffeine and sugars, the bacteria multiply in sugar. If it does not clear up in a couple of days you will need to see a doctor because it might have gone too far or there is the possibilitiy that its an STD (some STD's mimic a bladder or urinary tract infection)

i use to get really bad UTI's , for over a year they kept coming and going. the only thing that worked for me ( besides prescription drugs ) was having two tablespoons of unfiltered apple cider vinegar with water daily . 8 months later and i haven't had a single UTI ... it tastes vile , but it's definitely worth while .
